Twenty One years ago God blessed our family with the most beautiful baby girl in
the world. Megan Michelle Mayhan was born on October 26, 1985 in Plano, Texas.
Megan is truly an inspiration to all of those who are fortunate enough to know her.
Although Megan was born with a genetic disorder that caused both physical and
mental challenges in her life you would never know that by her personality.
Megan is truly one of the sweet souls of the world who never meets a stranger and is
never too busy to ask “How was your day”.
As a 5th grader Megan was awarded “The Presidents Education Award” in recognition
of “Outstanding Educational Improvement” in the pursuit of academic excellence in
overcoming adversities……..signed by President Bill Clinton. This award is presented
to only a hand full of students across the country each year. Students must be nominated
by their teachers and their principal in order to even be considered.
Megan continues to live her life with that very same ambition. Today she is a 21 year old
young lady who attends Beyond High School at Collin County Community College. This
program gives students with challenges a chance to learn the life skills that we all need
while in a College Environment.
Megan will age out of the Beyond High School program in May of 2008 and like all
parents her future concerns us. Because of this it seemed only natural that a dream
become a reality.
Megan loves scrapbooking almost as much as she loves meeting and visiting with new
people. Megan’s Place seemed like a great way for her to be involved in something she
loved while learning what it takes to run a business.
I sincerely hope that you will have the pleasure of meeting our very special young lady
one day at “Megan’s Place”. Miss Megan would love the opportunity to say hello and ……..
